SC Colonial Era Trails and Roads




Major Roads from Charleston

Kings Highway (coast) - (1735)
Camden Charleston Path - (1732)
Old South Carolina State Road - (1747) NW through Orangeberg
Charleston Fort Charlotte Trail - (1765) followed an old indian trail. 
Charleston Fort Moore (Augusta) Trail -- (1716)  Fort Moore was completed at the site of an Indian village that became the important fur trading center of New Windsor Township, (across from Augusta on the Savannah River) the primary pelt trading center with Charleston.  City lies just below the fall line.
