Appointing An Agent To Britain




1756:  [The Royal Governor], by and with the advice and consent of his Majesty's Council and the Commons House of Assembly of this Province, and by the authority of the same, That the said William Middleton be, and he is hereby declared, nominated and appointed, agent to represent, solicit and transact the affairs of the inhabitants of this Province in Great Britain.  He was to be paid £ 200

Six members of the Royal Council, the speaker of the House, and 5 members appointed by the House made up a committee to correspond with and instruct the agent.
